luke duke has never looked so fine.

we had our company picnic on thursday at zoo montana. i love it when they have it there...we get to see all the animals for free!!! unfortunately for the second year in a row my dinner consisted of a bun with a slice of kraft cheese and some bland potato salad, despite my scolding last year to one of the members of the committee that there needs to be some vegetartian options available. i know i live in montana, but i am NOT the only vegetarian in the whole state. meh, oh well...maybe next year?

this year they did the department poster contest again, the theme was county fair. this is what i came up with for my department...THE DUKES OF HAZZARD! it doesn't really go with the theme, but it was just too damn hilarious.

that's me on the far right, with a disturbing resemblence to ben stiller...megan (to the left of me) looks way too much like carol brady. i think our domination of the poster contest last year caused the other departments to really step it up. sadly, i don't think the dukes are going to pull out ahead this year.

it's fine, i got to see baby otters and am content with my life.

i'm strong to the finish cause i eat my spinach.

is it too early to be thinking about halloween costumes? no, i think not, especially if i'm going to sew a costume for both aj and myself. aj's suggestion for our halloween costume was a UPS man and a package (he would be the UPS man, i would be a box.) i vetoed that idea immediately and made an executive decision that we would be Popeye the Sailor Man & Olive Oyl.

robin williams and shelley duvall did it, so i see no reason that we can't either! it's pretty perfect actually seeing as i have an uncanny resemblence to olive oyl, or so i've been told.

now, let's take a walk down halloween memory lane.

2008 - Where's Waldo
basically, it was my ingenious excuse to lurk in the background of people's pictures at the bar. it's something that i usually do unintentionally, now i had reason and purpose behind it....brilliant.

2007 - Nerd
this one was not so much of a stretch. i really just needed a reason to wear the bowtie i'd had in my sock drawer for years. i think i fit the part rather well...i personally enjoy the mystery stain on my highwaters.

2006 - White trash
my roommates original idea was "montanans." but, i kindly explained that montanans are not white trash...well not all of us anyway. so, we moved onto the more general term, "white trash," a term italians couldn't seem to wrap their heads around. it was hilarious trying to explain to them what exactly we were, besides skanks in bad wigs. i wish this picture would show more of our outfits, but what it does show is priceless. i am clearly yelling at my baby daddy for knocking up my "sister," Angel (at the tip of my accusing finger), in more ways than one (notice the black eye, and below the picture where you cannot see, is her prego belly.) classic.

2005 - Asian Tourist
again...not a huge stretch with me being asian and all. best part of my evening by far was when i ran into one of the asian foreign exchange students at a party and she was dressed as the statue of liberty. we took a phenomenol photo, where that's located....i will never know.

2004 - Bunny Rabbit
by far the worst costume choice ever, and the first and last time i will ever think it's a good idea to dress up like a slut for halloween. i learned my lesson that night. side note: check out my BA lip ring, my one feable attempt at rebellion, sigh....

friends

friendships are hard. i've always known this, but the past year has proved that over and over again. it takes work on both ends for a friendship to stay exactly that - a friendship. i'm pretty tired of trying to keep certain people in my life, when they make no effort to want to be a part of it. i realize that everyone has their own busy lives to lead, but is it really that difficult to call or text or meet for a drink? apparently it is....
i'm think that i'm going to be finished trying with certain individuals. it sucks because i'll still always want to call them up or text them when something happens, i'll still want to try go out with them on those rare nights that i do go out.
we'll see how this goes. i hate the thought of losing them but i'm over feeling like i'm not worth their time.

playing god

my best friend clairey called me tonight and we had a really long talk. all our other phone calls have been really short and rushed, but this one was nice and long, like almost 2 hours i think....
it's weird to think that she lives on the complete opposite side of the country, especially since we've been everywhere together since sophomore year of high school, thru college, and even europe. i miss my besty.

ahhh memories...

i feel like i started writing this for a reason....
ohohoh, so claire and i were talking about our high school obsession with the sims. before claire moved to billings i would literally stay home nights and weekends playing the sims and eating tubes of cookie dough and drinking dr. pepper. my friends would call to hang out or "cruise 24th" and i would make up an excuse or say i was grounded just to stay home playing the sims til about 2 a.m. i used screen shots of a sims house i created for a school project plus i knew and could speak the sims gibberish language...it was bad. my mom actually ended up uninstalling the game from our computer and throwing the discs away, it was tragic.
moral of this story is that i miss sims, but i'm holding strong. i know if i start playing again it's very likely i will relapse into a sedentary cookie dough dr. pepper lifestyle.

it's 1:15 am? shit.

baby buddha!

isn't he a gem? he was waiting at the top of the stairs when i got home from helena today. unfortunately, his light bulb was broken before i had a chance to plug him in, so tomorrow i'm on a hunt for a replacement.

also, while i was in san francisco helping gerrie move to her new place, we came upon this picture...

i wish i could give you a better close up of this priceless photo...the ears, the gingery hair, the snufalofagus. gerrie let me take it home with me as long as i promised to frame it in my room. i've already got the perfect frame picked out for it at hobby lobby.

as soon as i'm not lazy i'm going to upload some pictures from san francisco. a little teaser, there are some peguins kissing and some zebras snuggling (i got those especially for you chanda so get excited!)

i blast npr like some blast rap

so, i was driving over to aj's after work today listening to all things considered. i hadn't really noticed how loud i had it turned up until i pulled up next to another car at a red light. they were playing that horribly obnoxious remake of right round by...flo rida i think?

anyhow, both of the cars passengers were staring at me with extremely annoyed looks. i didn't really understand what i could've done to piss them off, until i realized that robert siegel's voice was loud...very, veeery loud. so loud in fact that it was overpowering flo rida. after a few seconds of awkward staring, they turned their music up, revved their engine and flew by me when the light turned green. maybe i should leave my windows rolled up when listening to npr. no, actually scratch that, they should roll up their windows when listening to that icky rap remake crap.

flo rida, you've won this round...but next time, ohhhh yes, next time...

in an entirely different matter, the sandwich and wine party was such a blast! thank you coralene for coming up with the wonderful idea and hosting it at your place (which, by the way looks SO adorable). coralene made these amazing little sandwiches with olives, which i was super excited about. my dear heart tried to make some caprese sandwiches, which were actually very good minus the licorice-tasting basil. but, oh my stars, chris and his effing panini press surprised the shit out of me. i have no words for his sandwiches. thank you beardo, i am a better person for having eaten one of your paninis.

wayfarer

i finally got some new frames.

yesterday was extremely productive...i got my car air conditioning fixed (also, side note, go to Staley's Auto...they are reasonably priced and the people there are SO nice), got the radio in my car working after 5 months, got a pedicure from a crackhead, had matthew cut my hair, watched amy get a tattoo, went to emilio's birthday get-together, and had drinks with high school friends. phewss!

also....how cute are my little nuggets?!?

aj, stuart and willie are my most favorite boys ever!

my face.

apparently my skin is making up for the acne i never had in high school. seriously, it's brilliant. it looks like a
constellation map on my forehead.

truly, cassiopeia is above my right eyebrow. also, ever since i got back for vegas there has been the oddest patch of dry skin on my right cheek...nowhere else but there, and no amount of lotion will fix it. i am trying everything i can to avoid a dermatologist. they scare the bejesus out of me, a traumatic childhood experience you know.

it's rob pattinson's birthday today, happy 23rd rob. yes, i am a total creep.
